Representative remote-work scene, not a Callfora customer or employee.
How it differs from a premises PBX
Traditional PBX hardware keeps call control on-site. A cloud phone system moves that control to the provider, then delivers the desk as software — a softphone, a mobile app, and an admin portal.
Callfora is in that category: voice is first-class, SMS and meetings sit in the same workspace, and the public desk is desktop plus mobile. The web application administers the organization.
What to ask when you compare vendors
Ask who owns the call record, whether SMS uses the business number, whether recording is a plan add-on, and whether meetings share the same login.
Then compare seats, numbers, and the operating model you actually need — a phone system, a contact center, or both.
Questions teams ask next
Do I still need desk phones?
No. Every licensed seat includes the softphone on desktop and mobile. Supported hardware phones can remain part of the same organization when a dedicated handset is useful.
Does a cloud phone system work during an internet outage?
Calls depend on your internet connection. Plan for a backup connection and mobile fallback. Emergency calling also has important limitations on internet-based service.
