How to move your business number without missing calls

Porting moves the number your customers already know from your current carrier to a new provider. Most ports are routine if you prepare the right details.

What you need before you request a port

A recent bill or customer service record from your current carrier, showing the account holder name, service address, and account number exactly as the carrier has them.

The account PIN or passcode if your carrier uses one. Mobile carriers almost always do.

The full list of numbers to move, including any fax or alarm lines, and whether you want to keep the old account open for other services.

How long it takes

Simple ports often complete in one to two weeks. Ports with many numbers, mismatched account details, or carriers that need manual handling can take four weeks or more.

A rejected port usually means a detail did not match. Fix the detail and resubmit; the clock restarts.

Avoid gaps in service

Do not cancel your current service until the port completes. Cancelling first can release the number.

Set up users, extensions, and call routing in the new system before the port date so calls land in the right place the moment the number moves.

Porting to Callfora

You can request a port while you set up your Callfora workspace. We track the request with the carrier and email you when the number is live.
