1.Data protection

The Australian Privacy Principles govern collection, use, overseas disclosure, and security, and organisations remain accountable for overseas processors. Reforms from 2024 added a statutory privacy tort and transparency duties for automated decisions that take effect in stages. New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 has a notifiable-breach regime and rules for sending personal information overseas.

Our DPA gives customers the commitments they need to meet their own accountability duties.

2.Recording, messaging, and calling

  • Australia: the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 prohibits listening to or recording a live communication without the knowledge or permission of the parties. Announce recording at the start of every call.
  • Spam Act 2003 and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006: consent, sender identification, and unsubscribe for messages; no telemarketing calls to registered numbers; calling-hour limits.
  • New Zealand: the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 requires consent, identification, and unsubscribe for commercial messages.

This page is a general summary of how Callfora approaches the law in this region. It is not legal advice, laws change, and your obligations depend on your own facts. Ask your counsel before relying on it.
